Excitement and Spectacle on Third Day of Padel Copa Utrecht

August 31, 2024

Saturday saw Jaarbeursplein buzzing with energy during the third day of Padel Copa Utrecht. The nearly sold-out Skybox Arena provided a fantastic atmosphere during the quarterfinals.

Dutch Women Dominate

Steffie Weterings and Janine Hemmes kicked off the day with a convincing victory. The Dutch duo crushed their Belgian opponents, winning with a double 6-0. The match between two Spanish duos also attracted a lot of attention and offered plenty of entertainment.

Meijer/Richters Remain Undefeated, Exit for Roper/Van Opstal

In the evening, it was time for the Dutch men. Bram Meijer and Sten Richters, the national champions, continued their strong streak with a solid win against their Spanish/Portuguese opponents. The duo has not lost a single set this week.

Thijs Roper and Bart van Opstal faced a tough challenge against the second-seeded duo Cremona/Fazendeiro from Italy and Portugal. Despite a fierce battle, their opponents proved just a bit too strong.

Final Day on Sunday Promises Spectacle

Meanwhile, the side courts at Sportclub Houten hosted the matches for the last semifinal spots. Sunday will see the grand finale of Padel Copa Utrecht. The semifinals will take place during the day, followed by the crowning of the champions in the BetCity Arena. Expectations are high for Meijer and Richters in the men’s category, while Weterings and Hemmes are strong contenders among the women. The last tickets for this major event are still available.
