Thrilling battles set the stage for quarterfinals in Utrecht

Today at Padel Copa, no fewer than twenty matches were played in the round of 32 and round of 16 at Sportclub Houten. Afterwards, all eyes turned to centre court at Jaarbeursplein, where matches were played for the second day in a row. It was the first day with both an afternoon and evening session in the BetCity Arena.

The first men’s match of the afternoon featured Valdes & Collado Losada vs Groen & Groen. Valdes & Collado Losada claimed a solid 6-2, 6-4 win. The second match saw Kurz & Koek face Van Houten & Nikkelen in the women’s draw. Kurz & Koek dominated and left the court with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

The evening belonged to the men. Seurin & Raichman took on Prins & De Kroon in an intense battle. Prins & De Kroon came out on top: 6-3, 6-4. The next match, Notenboom & Portillo vs Richters & Roper, was a real crowd-pleaser. Richters & Roper impressed and closed it out 6-1, 6-3.

Tomorrow kicks off with three women’s quarterfinals at Sportclub Houten. The rest of the action moves to centre court. The afternoon session starts at 1 p.m. with the last women’s quarterfinal: Kurz & Koek vs Louisa Norton & Weterings. After that, the men take the stage: Trillas Garcia & Figuerola Santiago vs Garcia Jimenez & Medina Murphy.

The evening session begins at 6 p.m. with three men’s quarterfinals. First up: Nunes & Solbes vs Santigosa Sastre & Sanchez Chamero. Then it’s the top seeds Valdes & Collado Losada against Richters & Roper. The day ends with Rodriguez Vidal & Nolten vs Prins & De Kroon.
